What’s included with the kitchen?
Plates, glasses, wine glasses, silverware, pots, pans, casserole dishes, cooking utensils, tin foil, plastic wrap, paper towels. Let us know if you need anything else in particular.
What spices and condiments are included?
We have full salt and pepper shakers. Because condiments are perishable, we don’t include ketchup, mustard or relish, etc.
Do you have a coffee maker?
We have a Keurig and Drip-filter machine, as well as a tea kettle.
Does the kitchen have a dishwasher? Yes, it has an ultra-quiet Bosch dishwasher – the Express cycle washes in less than 30 minutes. We include dishwashing tabs needed for your entire week.
What about laundry? The cottage has a stacked High-Efficiency Meihle washer & dryer.
Note: You need to purchase HE laundry detergent. Wegmans sells it.
Do I need to bring toilet paper? No, we have a week’s supply of toilet paper stored in each bathroom.
How about sheets, pillows & towels? The beds have linens, duvets, blankets and lots of pillows. We include plush towels as well.
Note: You should bring makeup removal wipes and dispose of these in the trashcans.
Outdoor grill? The Weber gas grill includes free propane.
Note: Please don’t bring any lighter fluid because there’s no way to use it here.
Lake toys? Your rental includes two FREE kayaks (one double and a single). We also have a swim noodle and several boogie boards.
Life jackets? We have 3 adult size life jackets. Let us know if you have toddlers – we may have the right size.
Water depth? Depending on the lake level, water depth ranges from 2 to 4 feet. Our dock has two ladders so you can choose a shallow or deeper entry. Please NO DIVING.
Note: We suggest water shoes. Zebra mussels present may cut bare feet.
Where can I rent boats, watercraft or bikes? Ross Marine, German Brothers and Smith Boys all rent pontoons and power boats. You can rent kayaks, peddle boats, Stand Up Paddle Boards and SCUBA gear at Canandaigua Sailboarding. RV Bikes in Downtown Canandaigua rents bikes.
Can I bring a boat? Yes. The New York State Marine Park is just over one mile away. We have a light hoist (for a jet ski or rowboat) and a strong buoy that will hold your boat.
Note: Due to water depth, boat length should not exceed 30 feet.
Are pets allowed? Unfortunately no. Our insurance policy absolutely forbids pets at any time, under any circumstances.
Note: No one can bring pets at any time on the property. Violating this policy results in immediate cancellation of your vacation rental without any refund.
Do you permit smoking? We do not allow smoking (including pot). Note: Violation of this policy also results in immediate cancellation of your vacation rental without any refund.
Do you allow fireworks? Fireworks are illegal in New York State. Also, our platform docks have plastic decking and flares or fireworks will melt and destroy these surfaces.
Where can I shop? Within a mile, you’ll find Wegmans, Aldi’s, Runnings & Walmart, so there are several convenient choices for groceries.
Should we bring bottled water? No – save your money (and the environment. Canandaigua Lake is one of the purest lakes around, and the City of Canandaigua wins awards for the taste and quality of its public water. Unlike most places on Canandaigua Lake, this cottage is served by ALL public utilities – one of the reasons we chose the location.
Local wine tasting? The Finger Lakes has a world-class reputation for wines, especially white wine. The NY Kitchen is sponsored by the New York Grape Growers Association, and at this facility – less than a mile away – you can let wineries, breweries and distilleries come to you.

Local beer tasting? Within one mile of the cottage, you can walk to three different microbreweries.
What else can I do? Canandaigua Lake is the main attraction whether you want to boat, swim or just relax you can do it all at the cottage. Local amusements (bowling, laser tag, water park/wake park, movies, concerts) are all within a mile. Two miles up the hill, you can visit Downtown Canandaigua and three museums.
Note: The Erie Canal made New York the Empire State, and the Finger Lakes is filled with important history such as Women’s Rights and the First Americans. Zip-lines, Aerial Parks, Corning Glass, Eastview Mall, Rochester Museum of Play are all within a short drive.
Can I walk there? This cottage has the highest WalkScore of any location you can find on Canandaigua Lake. The Finger Lakes’ best attractions are all within a mile of the cottage. That means you can walk to most places through beautiful lakefront parks and along well-lit sidewalks.
How many people can spend the night there? With 4 bedrooms, occupancy is limited to no more than 8 guests throughout the stay. This allows maximum comfort for you and your family. Everyone staying at the cottage must be listed on the rental agreement.
How many people can visit each day? Beyond the 8 guests sleeping at the cottage, you are allowed to have up to 7 day visitors, but no more than that at any time. This is a family-friendly neighborhood, not a place for big parties.
Quiet hours? Our homeowners’ association imposes quiet hours each night at 11:00 pm. Please be considerate of the neighbors because they just want to enjoy the lake like you.
How many cars can I park there? You can park 4 cars at our property. There is no other parking available. You must park on our land and NOT use the neighbors’ parking spaces.
Can I pitch a tent or bring a camping trailer? No. The lot is 50 feet wide. By the time you park 4 cars, there is no room for any campers or trailers. No tents are allowed because that will damage the lawn.
What should I pack and bring while on vacation? The list is easy and light:
- Electronics and charge cords
- Flip Flops and Water Shoes
- Swim towels
- Sun glasses
- Fishing gear
- Baby gear such as high chair, safety gate, crib or pack-and-play
Note: Pack light – you can purchase food and beverages at any of the local stores. Wegmans has all you need for a clambake or BBQ. While Wegmans pizza is good, try nearby Pontillos or Casa Italianas for more authentic and local Italian pizza. The Finger Lakes is a foodies’ paradise and Canandaigua in particular has several excellent restaurants. Of course the local liquor stores offer a huge selection of world-class wines, including the Finger Lakes. Every Saturday morning, you can visit the local Farmers’ Market.
